Fly Me to the moon

the most amazing show on Earth, amazing, wonderful, science, lunar,

Last night I took a photo of the Moon. (above) As I marvelled at her landscape, I thought of the one inside my mind.

The Moon’s beams are not her own but those reflected from the sun. Have we become the moon and forgotten there is the sun. Have we relinquished the light that exists inside us, to rely on the cast of others? Are our ideas our own, or like the rays from the Moon, an illusion from an foggy, bumpy mirror?

The amount of light from the Moon depends on the point of its orbit; just like us and our point of view. Depending on the angle reflected from, things may seem darker than they are.

When the moon is at is closest it becomes a Supermoon, (the next one is on Saturday 12 July) Twenty percent brighter and clearer, but most of all; full. It is wonderful to be that close to another, that they brighten your life this way! But we are so fortunate. We also have our own rays. 🙂

When something flies past, do we let it cast a shadow or attach ourself to its darkness? It could bask in our glow, as it flitters by instead of growing into a mountain. Mountains cast deep shadows.

What if we are all little Stars, meant to shine our own light upon each other? To illuminate a life for ourselves and share our intrinsic radiance with the world. You have the right to be your own light. Let your light shine. May it be bright. ❤

  1. What a beautiful meditation on the moon… and the light inside of us! Just tonight Papa Bear and I were out in the hot tub admiring the “Super Moon” that will be full on July 12th. The light it was reflecting was so bright! I like to think that I am a reflection of the Creator’s light, and that a tiny spark of that light burns within me for all to see if I allow it to shine and don’t let it be darkened by the shadows of life. Your photograph was beautiful, and I’m going to be thinking of your words as I watch the moon grow bigger and brighter still in the coming days. Thank you for joining us at Two Shoes Tuesday with such uplifting thoughts. You are always welcome there!

  3. Very thought provoking comparing mankind to the moon & sun and yet so on point. I have seen in society a growing trend of people being more like the moon, instead of the sun; living life on the tide of how someone makes them feel and not be the light for those around them for inspiration to want to move forward no matter what circumstances present itself. Wouldn’t it be wonderful, if we were all more like the sun? I guess, if we were then the world would be utopia. Cool image of the moon to illustrate your thoughts.

  4. Stopping by from FMF. This made me think of a song we sang in Sunday School: “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine…let it shine, let it shine, let it shine”. Let’s do that. 🙂

  5. Reminds decades ago when I was a child “Catch a Falling Star and Put It in Your Pocket” song (Perry Como version) always captured my imagination. But then I thought it not such a good idea as mother would beat the crap out of me if the star burned a hole in my pocket. Thanks visit my blog.
