Lost and Found

I had just moved across the country. She’d been displaced from her family. We’d both lost someone we loved dearly.

She was my first new friend; the most beautiful baby girl I’d ever seen. As soon as we had a home, I set about making her one of her own.

I expected to be repulsed by aspects of her care. Initially her toileting showed her distress. But a few days later she cuddled in for her formula and I felt absolute unconditional love.

We jumped about the back yard together, but she only practiced her kickboxing on him. I never thought about the day she would leave. She taught me so much. I may have taken in an orphan but her love was what I needed. She was the one who helped me. ❀

beautiful, sweet, joey

If you look closely, you can see her toe peeking out of my underarm. Was she trying to tickle me? πŸ˜€
