face hidden, constraint-painted
charisma-thrifted, tainted
with falsities, proper-ties, power unknown,
sparkle wasted, gifts unshown
cultural niceties soul-drowning
unabashed pure-self gaining ground
unravelling, zing-bursting, vital, found
inner portrait breaking through
dazzling, free, alive, YOU
Lovely sentiment, gorgeous pic! X

I love the pell-mell accumulation of words ending with the open face of the child. Simply beautiful!

Thanks. Words seem to float from hidden to becoming.

Cool poem. I love, “sparkle wasted, gifts unshown cultural niceties soul-drowning.” so true. So great if you can come out the other side.

This is simply lovely! The beginning is representing repression of the self, especially as children, and then it breaks free at the end!! Great work! TiV

So many of us hold back who we are, I’m so happy when we find that freedom. Thanks so much TiV

Beautiful description of healing the wounded inner child. In the type of therapy I do, we call her the “free child”.

Thanks. “Free child” is such a perfect name, Karuna.

It comes from the developmental arm of Transactional Analysis, which is one form of psychotherapy. I like that way of seeing the healthy child too!

“falsities, proper-ties, power unknown” great word combination/comparison. I appreciate your pointing out the ties to being proper, or whatever else, and the resulting concealed power, sparkle, gifts, etc.
I like the feeling of the movement from constriction to expression as I read your poem. Thanks.
