What is it you court?

Inebriated with apathy
yet free from nonchalance
where is the non-thought?
words leap with reckless endangerment
taut with anchors and holds, fraught

the limpid truth stings
confides in me of a privileged whole
Soothing serendipity’s
promise sings
uncorrupted, from the soul
“Should’s” indecency skulking,
shackles broken at the bones wring

To escape the raging winds,
be full and free with the madness of joy
clear the lightning of destruction
Release me from your ploy!

freedom, happiness, wonderful, surfer, womanI dismiss your gushing
colourless rivers
and your pent up seas,
your painful greedy corrosion
no more gnaws at me!

I defy you world, by yielding
to my bashful innate self
laughing, sighing, weeping, flying
Passions sought feelings felt
gentle glory discharged completely
blessed to love, to live, cavort,
I ask myself sincerely, sweetly
What is it you court?

  1. I’ve read this a couple of times and it seems like after every line, I say to myself: “That’s my favorite.” Then I read the next line and IT becomes my favorite. Still, I keep getting drawn back to “inebriated with apathy.” Beautiful.

  2. I like it. I’m not sure exactly what it’s about… “I defy you world”… Is this your conception of life? Anyway, the writing is amazing. I really like the images that some of these painted in my inner eye. Congrats!

I don’t want to be a gushing colourless river, but this was my fave bit! For me this stanza sums up a lot of what I’m feeling about social media at the moment. A lot of hard work has clearly gone into this, yet it floats along beautifully. Great job!
